We try to learn about local culture all the time.
Recently we got an email from a customer regarding his $124 bill.

He said:
"S$124 in Cantonese really sounds bad – easy to die (translated). :(
Can you re-issue invoice and let me pay your company S$123 – easy to live (translated). So much better for my business if it is ‘easy to live’ rather than ‘easy to die’.
Give a good omen for my company. :)OK?"

We apologized to him with a smile and issued him another invoice of S$123. Apparently he is not trying to get discount on that bill but a good sign out it. In Chinese, 8 is a good number to many people too, that's why it is frequently appear on retail price tag. A very good feedback from this customer. In our service, we also want to take care of their personal preference as much as we can on top of our quolity translation.
